På samme måde som dybfrysning af madvarer startede i andelsfrysehuse, blev der omkring 1950-60 lavet nogle andelsvaskehuse. De havde dog en ret kort levetid. Den tekniske udvikling gjorde, at folk hurtigt fik deres egen lille vaskemaskine.
